Haiti, We Care

Join us to make a difference and save lives. Since the earthquake hit Haiti on 12th January 2010, I have been reminded about our company Mission – to put a smile on Malaysia, one person at a time. At times, I admit, this Mission may sound cliched. However, to truly put a smile on someone’s face is no mean feat. It can be hard work, near impossible at times. Yet, we will strive to continue our Mission, even when the circumstances around us do not encourage it.

Haiti, for example, is in such a difficult place at the moment. 150,000 dead, 194,000 injured, tens of thousands of children orphaned and over 300,000 children below the age of 2 in need of good nutrition. To console a survivor or victim of the earthquake may seem like a helpless cause at this point in time.

However, from the ashes of destruction, there is always hope. A hope for something miraculously good to spring out from the ashes. And it is this hope, this miraculous goodness that we BELIEVE will happen for the people of Haiti.

Though we may reside in Malaysia, far away from the aftermath of this tragedy, we are by no means dusting our hands from the responsibility to do something, however small. And it is with this BELIEVE of a miracle combined with our Mission that we came up with the Haiti “I CARE” cupcakes.

RM1 from the proceeds of each “I CARE” cupcake will be donated to the World Vision Emergency Relief Fund for the Haiti Earthquake. We intend to sell as many “I CARE” cupcakes as possible – available at our 3 outlets in the Curve, Pavilion KL and Sunway Pyramid. We also take pre-orders via email at order@cupcakechic.com.my.

Join us to make a difference. Join us to save lives and help rebuild a country. Help us to put a smile on Haiti again.

Thank you.

Good on you guys to do this for our Haitian friends. Will do my bid when I pop by Cupcake Chic. May speedy relief and restoration come to the torn country through the efforts of World Vision and other relief agencies who are working tirelessly to lend assistance. God’s favour be upon them.

A total of 914 Haiti “I CARE” cupcakes were sold during the short 1 week period in end Jan/early Feb 2010 – thanks to all who supported the cause. As such, RM1 from each Haiti “I CARE” cupcake will be donated to the World Vision Emergency Relief Fund for the Haiti Earthquake early next week. Not a huge amount, but certainly a start to many more community projects Cupcake Chic will undertake to make some difference in the lives of others.

Growing up in Seattle I watched as a small coffee company grew into a global behemoth, and during a subsequent year in the US state Vermont I was fortunate to partake in the embryonic growth of two guys who combined talents (and temperaments) to create some unique ice cream flavors. Superseding the commercial success both these companies – Starbucks and Ben & Jerry’s – enjoyed is their passions for, and unwavering commitment to, civic and global philanthropy. While your product is exceptional, your activist charitable participation (and creativity) is extraordinary.

Hi Lee Turner, thank you for your gracious comments and for likening us to the philantrophy work that Starbucks and Ben & Jerry’s are already involved in. We are still a modest sized company but we hope to do more with what we have to help the communities around us. We rely a lot on feedback from our customers/fans and use those comments to improve the way we do business. Thank you again for your comments. Have a fantastic week ahead!
